We are passionate about helping people living with arthritis play a more active role in managing their condition.
Everyone has a unique experience of living with arthritis, and there is no single solution to reducing its impact on our health and happiness. However, through self-help and a positive mindset, you can take action to improve your life with arthritis and boost your sense of well-being.
We believe that there are four key areas to leading a fuller life with arthritis: exercise, nutrition, pain management and mindfulness.
To support you in these areas, our charity offers exercise classes that are specially tailored for people with mobility issues, including gentle exercise, adapted yoga, hydrotherapy and table tennis. We also run well-being workshops with qualified instructors to help you develop skills in the four key areas.
By becoming a member of our charity, you will have access to activities, events and knowledge that will help to increase your confidence and improve day-to-day living with arthritis.
Our office is based at Voluntary Action Leicestershire on Newarke Street, in Leicester City Centre. The charity is entirely member-led and runs solely on external funding, fundraising and kind-hearted donations from the general public.
Our Beginnings
Our charity started life in 2006 as a community group – founded by patients who wanted to help others – called Community Leicestershire Arthritis Self Help (CLASH). Last year, we took the bold decision to change our name to Arthritis Support Leicestershire to make our charity, and services, more accessible to the local community.
